"This poem is dedicated to the people who lost their lives in the Wendy's massacre on Military Trail in West Palm Beach. My heart goes out to their family and friends. I have a hard time just driving by there every day on my way to work." -Pisces Halcyon
"Sunshine State Eclipse”
Hell commences in the daylight hours
Ruminations locked in a quiet room
Inner darkness has clawed him heartless
He views the world through the charcoal powder of his pistol
Taking the war outside his head
Into the sun of the afternoon
Shines down for the last time
The sun eclipses into the darkness of his mind
He shoots his hopelessness and despair into the innocent
Randomly selected by the power of chance
Fractured souls left to wander
In the midst of tragedy
In the broken dreams floating outside
A young man’s family awaits his return
Instead greeted with the horrors unfolding
Too stunned to begin suffering the misfortune
That will live on in choked back tears
Never having an answer to the question
So violently placed on their lips by a madman
They are the only ones who will remember
For everyone else
Sadly, life continues broken
In the apathy of acceptance
In a bleeding world
Still, business will resume
It will go forgotten
The horror etched in my mind forever
The question “why”
